Sinus infections, also known as sinusitis<\/a>, are quite a common ailment. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 28.9 million adults were diagnosed with sinusitis<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While sinus infections themselves are not contagious, they often occur as a result of a virus like the common cold or flu. You can pass the virus on to another person, and it\u2019s possible that they also develop a sinus infection, but they also might not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a sinus infection is caused by something else, like bacteria, fungus, nasal polyps, allergies or a deviated septum, it is not contagious, and you shouldn\u2019t worry about passing an illness on to anyone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
