Dr. Weir is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1974, and obtained his B.A. in Economics from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem. Dr. Weir received his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and completed his General Surgery training at Oschner Hospital in New Orleans, LA. He completed his Otolaryngology residency with Tulane University in New Orleans and returned to Spartanburg to practice E.N.T. in 1987.
He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Head and Neck Surgeons. Dr. Weir is a member of the American Rhinologic Society, Spartanburg County Medical Society, and the South Carolina Medical Society. Dr. Weir enjoys all aspects of adult and pediatric general otolaryngology, but has particular interest in pediatric otolaryngology and adult sinus surgery and disease. His surgical interests also include head and neck cancer.
Dr. Weir is married to Dr. Lisa Ward Weir of Baton Rouge, LA. Their children have graduated college and are seeking professional careers in medical fields. Dr. Weir’s personal interests include sailing, snow skiing, computing, and boat building. He enjoys spending time on the lake, particularly in the Jocassee Gorges area. Dr. Weir and his family are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
