Dr. Weir is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1974, and obtained his B.A. in Economics from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem. Dr. Weir received his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and completed his General Surgery training at Oschner Hospital in New Orleans, LA. He completed his Otolaryngology residency with Tulane University in New Orleans and returned to Spartanburg to practice E.N.T. in 1987.
He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Head and Neck Surgeons and is a member of the Southern Medical Association. Dr. Weir is a member of the American Rhinologic Society, Spartanburg County Medical Society, and the South Carolina Medical Society. Dr. Weir enjoys all aspects of adult and pediatric general otolaryngology, but has particular interest in pediatric otolaryngology and adult sinus surgery and disease. His surgical interests also include head and neck cancer.
Dr. Weir is married to Dr. Lisa Ward Weir of Baton Rouge, LA. Their children have attended college and are seeking professional careers. Dr. Weir’s personal interests include sailing, snow skiing, tennis, and spending time with his family. He is a member of the Western Carolina Sail Club at Lake Hartwell and enjoys spending time on the lake. Dr. Weir and his family are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
